Prachanda on Screen

prachandaAfter remaining underground for over a decade, Prachanda has finally emerged out of the "jungle" and dropped into the houses of Nepalese people through Kantipur Channel. There was nothing extra-ordinary about the man and that, I thought was extra ordinary. As expected he had better eloquence power than most of the top leaders of Nepal (without such skills he wouldn't have been able to convince/brainwash such a large number of people). His expressions were certainly better than Girija Babu's "ma happy chu" interview, after his return from the visit to India. But Prachanda certainly lacked decency. His way of addressing past and present Kings and political leaders including Girija Pd. Koirala, present prime minister of Nepal, was simply disdainful. He should understand that longer it takes him to transform from a rebel to a politician, longer the nation, including them, will suffer.

Prachanda responded to every question, put forward by an amateur journalist, without any apprehension but there was a fear hidden into his strong voice... fear of people. He knows that he and his comrades will not be treated by people the same way once they will not have any weapon. In fact, there are already few cases where the families of Maoist Rebels were attacked and killed by people. That is the reason why Prachanda never promised or even mentioned of surrendering their artillery. It was almost unbelievable how easily he presented an analogy between the Nepal government and his own. During elections, he wants both Maoist and Nepal army to be locked under the supervision of UN or any other impartial international organization. He suggested that Nepalese police and Maoist militia should safeguard the elections. Similarly, he plans that for each district; there should be a committee of SPA + Maoist + civil society people, instead of an individual representative.

Maoist torments continue

A friend of mine returned yesterday from his home village, in the far western corner of Nepal. He recounted me about his horrendous experiences at his village as well as on the highways. Maoists had installed an arms and ammunition factory near his village and they are strengthening themselves during this state of anarchy. He told me that on his way back to Kathmandu, a group of maoist rebels (few of them were in uniform) tried to loot their bus but were made unsuccessful by the prudent bus driver.

In fact, I recently heard from my relative that a local Maoist leader of my village was telling – "Who are Prachanda and Babu Ram to decide our fate? They can not restrain us of our activities."

Comments:

Genie is out the bottle- speak of anarchy, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Lets hope that at the end of the day- Nepal as a nation is still standing.

You have a nice writing style. please update your blog more frequently. It's not that I agree with everything you say but I enjoy your writing and I am sure some other readers too. So, please update it more freqently.

Q:"Why do we need 90,000 army men in a country sandwiched between India and China? It should be cut down to 20,000 at most," Prachanda

A: In case, it is required to fight with Maoist.

Update it frequently.

As for sanity of the nation is concerned it has gone down the tube. I am becoming less and less optimist about the state of affair. It is a complete rout by the maoist.

Nepal as a sovereign nation is no more, there is rule by the vulture of different shade of colors, and citizenry are hijacked by the fringe lunatics hell-bent on defining their aspirations and hopes.

Its a state of Coma, Nepal

yes, good idea Prachand maharaaj! After Gyanendra's dictatorship, Nepalese need another Hitler, this time a real blood-thirsty killer to kill the poor. And replacing the country's legitimate army with the merciless dacoits and robbers of the Maoist is a very intelligent idea.

prachanda said if gautam buddha could spread the light of peace 25 centuries back, why can't we now?
But for your kind information
gautam buddha meditated hardly for 6 years and only when he got peace for himself he started to spread it through sermons.and his message was "meditate and know yourself"
My only question to prachanda
is what do you know about meditation? and also do you know anything about the nature of peace that the buddha is talking about.if u don't know {which i'm sure u don't because u r not a buddha as it requires tremendous effort like ram bahadur bomjon is doing right now}how can you talk about it?

prachanda talked about a new vision.a vision which could be a sample for new nepal and for the rest of the world. but what is the vision?is he sure about it?if he is,then why don't he talk about it so that everyone can support him?
in my opinion the problem all over the world had been the lack of vision, the problem is lack of vision and the problem of the world will ever be the same i.e. the lack of vision.because vision is not possible without meditation, and nobody is talking about it.
i'm sure "prachanda" without meditation is as confused as everybody.
he may be an expert rebel but that does not mean he can be a good leader.actually these are two different categories.
still i wish him a very good luck because we don't want any more voilence.we have seen enough and enough is enough!

best

I just read this piece of article. It strikes me that its always easier to find faults than to come up with solutions and make things better. Maoists are not happy with the government it seems, again. but wait! I thought they were in the government themselves right now. How can you be in the government and then criticize yourself and threaten to leave to start a people's revolution against it. I guess that is just plain easier to do than anything else. :).

I came to know from a very reliable source that Dr. Arjun Karki- the one who heads fedeartion of NGOs in Nepal is a MAJOR share holder in Sagarmatha TV- now, from what I know- he is not loaded to invest in TV channels but after April movement this guy is in stratosphere and rich overnight to establish Sargarmatha TV. This goes to prove- things changes but something always remains the same in Nepal.

As for Riyamaji fiasco- people were killed due to violating Curfew- now we can argue on this but when a regime or government does impose curfew- you obey it or pay the price- simple as that. If start questioning legality of any regime by violating the rules and rule of law then we will have systematic failure of social norms and complete breakdown- which is staring in our face right now. When powers-that-be wontonly uses wrongended approach to get their means- it will come back to haunt them. Madheshi uprising and death galore is case in point, does spam have any answer or course of action that can convince Madhesi people otherwise- no way. When you play with fire, fire burns.

Now- my perception is that forces at present who are keen to wipe out our civilization by attacking religion, Monarchy and social customs and practices. Each and every social or religion have certain aspects which are inherently outdated or put in place by governing sect or bodies to maintain their supermacy but these things are done with as education and social awareness increases but what we have is direct and well coordinated attack that is bent on wiping out our identity not by gradual or natural process (education and awareness) but by demeaning and disparaging our very existence. This has got to stop-lets continue to be land of Buddha rather than land of Might is right through violence and mayhem.

It is a well known fact that the the top level Maoists are the culprit of a prolonged crime - a severe crime against the humanity. Many people have lost their life. Many people tried to force in themselves the hope, a hope which had to be forced because there was no alternative, a hope which had to be forced only to survive... And finally when these people landed in a comical fashion [Which reminds me of a nepali story of a Julungo[scare crow] who had roamed along like a real man and people were scared of the Julungo because the Julungo projected itself as a real man with guts], internally glad to have saved their ass, all the hope drained away. It didnot take long for the people to realise that the maoists were nothing but a hyped group of criminals. They too didnot have love for Nepal.
